Longtimber Woods
11:00am / 11:30am Friday 29th September
Social Stroll & Swim for parents and carers, babies and children.
S.O.S. and Ivybridge Strollers are teaming up for a stroll through Longtimber Woods and a dip in the River Erme at Trinnaman's Pool.
Where to meet
Meet in Harford Road car park at 11:30am. Or, if you can come a little earlier, meet at 11:00am in Makers Mews (opposite Harford Road car park) for a coffee and a look around at the 'make, share and repair venue' as part of their open day. If you're coming later, or prefer less walking, there is free parking under the viaduct on Station Road PL21 0AG.
Trinnaman's Pool
A gentle stroll through the woods will bring us to a series of natural pools. We'll stop at Trinnaman's Pool, next to the notice board and picnic table.
Swimming is totally optional, there's space to sit and enjoy the calm of the river without getting wet. But if you do fancy a dip, you're in for a treat...
"Enter the circular pool near the tree trunk and the old tinners’ mortar stone, and enjoy a refreshing swim upstream against the current. The pool is fed by a wonderful little waterfall that creates a natural jacuzzi below, and is framed perfectly by overhanging trees to create an idyllic scene that even the most talented of artists would struggle to conjure up from their own imaginations" - Wild Swimming Walks
There's a bit of scramble to get in over the rocks so swim shoes are recommended.
Please REGISTER WITH S.O.S. so we know you're coming, especially if you're planning to dip in the river.
